Yesterday afternoon Joe Weldon, a noted quarter-horse man who has been traveling through the country with the mare Lucy Walker, has a fracas on the Troy fair grounds, about half-past five o'clock last evening, with a man nauied Wheedon, who ran a target gun privilege on the grounds. The particulars, as we learn them, are that Weldon was drunk and was shooting with a heavy air gun, when a dispute arose over seme trivial point. Weldon made the gun.a weapon and attacked Wheedon with it, beating in his skull in a terrible manner, so there is no hope for his life. Weldon managed to make his escape from the grounds, and nothing has been heard from him since. Last night Marshal Scott received numerous telegrams to apprehend him, and a careful watch was kept of all the avenues approaching town, but morning brought with it a water-haul.

This morning, the marshal and a deputy sheriff from Troy were in town, but nothing could be heard from Weldon. STATU 1TF.3IM.
