Twenty years ago the people of the Methodist Church at the town of Ma- quoketa. Iowa, wanted a bell. They raised the amount of 1 5, but it was found that the tower would not stand the weight of the bell.

They bought the bill recontly and relieved rs. Northrop of her charge. For fix edness of purpose and unyielding devotion to one subject, Mrs. Northrop is certainly a success. A small Baptist Church at Bremd-ton, in the county of Berks, England, has elected as its pastor a Mr.
