(i ti i A party who refuses to be governed by this great principle, is on the highway to ruin.

A politician Who advocates the claims of a man for an office for which he is not fitted, is an unsafe politician, and whether Ird by personal friendship or by the consideration which sometimes influences the demagogue, he is equally unjust to himself, ta hia party, and to his friend whose advancement he pretends to advocate. The Wyandott Democracy heretofore have adhered to this principle, and we believe that in nominations which are to be made under the State organlzatioa in thii county, that they will continoe to adhere to it, and then success is certain. We know not who may be candidatesj nor who desire to be. We have the names of no favorite to present, and only ask that the Convention, when it shall meet, will consider the best of the people of the county, and of the party, in making these nominations, and wo will be satisfied. Mrni is an. imitative creature, and as fond of a novelty as a lady of a new bonnet. This peculiar characteristic of the race was illustrated by all the boys attempting to fly from a gate post, because a man announced that he would fly from the church steeple, A wonderful example of the imitative nature of man, is now being furnished in Wyandott. Blondon danced a jig and cooked an omelet on a tight rope, over the great chasm a Niagara, and half the world went crazy for a tight rope performance. There are certain gentlemen in cur town who have stretched a Apolitical tight rope, and insist upon going upon it toper-form, always, however, taking good care to have a slipping noose around their neck to guard against any accidental fall.

If there was a possibility of succeeding in the feat they announced, there would be a greater crowd to witness the performance than Blcndiu ever dreamed of. Gentlemen, your omelet would taste just as sweet if you should sit down and cook it without a yewning beneath. You can find a safer platform to dance a jig upon, than a tight rope. The carefully arranged slipping noose is no protection, for, though it may save you from drown ing.it will inevitably hang you, and if you should fird six or a dozen other? strung along on this same rope with yourselves, it will not make hanging any more pleasant than if you hung there solitary and alone. But suppose you make no mis-sttp, that yen dunce your jig, and tat your omelet, what will you have gained Blondin received SS.COQ in hard cash srnd heard urrvers-al applause from both sides of You will expend your money, and if you bring forth a tnurmer of applause frotn one side, it will be drowned by the curses of the other.

Blondin performed for a reasonable crowd, who paid him liberally, and did not ask him to perfor.n anything but what he had anncunced. Take care that those who urge you on, do not, when you done all that you desire to do, in their excitement, demand that you, should gratify their wonderful appetite for harlequin performances, by throwing yourself from your tight rope, that they may see what will happen. Depend upon it, those who can urge you on to such a crazy performance have no interest in your political lives, nor will they mourn your political Cot. Wm. Ayrea, A. Medary. A. Jon him that he, was not, and pledged Mr. WTood his cordial support, if nominated.

Such being the facts, we think we know Mr. Forsyth urell enough to know thai he will not become a candidate for the office of Sheriff, or do anything to endanger Mr. WTood's election. Mr. Stover was a candidate before the Quindaro Convention, and as an hoicra- man, and a good Democrat, he will no; approve of hi name being put upon any opposition ticket.

Nine out of the ten candidates to elected, will therefore undoubtedly support the regular ticket. What position Mr. Bartlett occupies, we do not know. He ii not now in our County, and he has not taken that active and decided pari in politics which would enable us to judge of what he will do under the hut we believe him to be a man of ton guod judgment to make himself the ttumbliug block of the Democratic party. There are two tickets in the field, the Democratic and Republican.

If any other put forth, it will be got up by some interested Republicans, to divide the Democracy and give the Republican candi dates, nominated at Quindaro, an Let no voter be deceived, and the result will inevitably he a democratic victory on ihe 8th day of November. Backed Down. The Republicans are already cowed. The following letter shows that they aTe inclined to abandon a hopeless contest. I- It seems that our committee called upon Mr, Funk, to bring out Thomas Jefferson Williams, in-discus-ion with Col.

McMath. who is ready and willing to speak for the valiant Thomas Jefferson don't like the time and place, and Funk begs the Democracy to hold cn till he gets out of tha scrape. Mr. Funk exhibited his usual good judgment when he desired to let that job out." Here is the. letter 1 WvAstnoTT.Oct.
