Seward, Mr. Smiser and Mr. Dogherty, members of the Sterling band, came in on No. 5 last night, visited here a short time and returned on No. 8 at Cheap Holiday Ticket.

Boisell are here from Hoisington today. On account of the cool weather there was no union service in the park last evening. Regular services were held in the various churches. We heard on the street today that a petition is to be circulated for the removal of the postofflce to a point on Main street south of Forest avenue. Dodge City is running Great Bend a close race for the distinction of being the largest town in the west half of the state.

Dodge City gained 325 in population the past year and is now just 63 behind Great Bend. Roy and Frank Hoisington came down from Leoti Sunday morning to visit with their father, A. J. Roy will return to Leoti tomorrow morning and Frank will work -during harvest near town. Walter McCray, who will go with the band to Lawton as solo cornetist and who is well known here, is in town this week in the interest of the Lindsborg Bethany College.

The soap sale at the Crescent this morning attracted a crowd of buyers. About 1500 cakes of soap were disposed of io the twenty miuutes time. ALLEN'S PURE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM Is pronounced the finest of all. On sale in any quantity AT ALLEN'S DRUG STORE. (Established 1872.) Mr.

John M. Tennis and Miss Violet P. Trotter, of Great Bend, were married at the court bouse in this city Thursday afternoon, June 12th, by Probate Judge Tictor. Larned Chronoscope. The Bush ton News throws a bouquet at Editor Cooke of the Ellin-wood Leader, by saying that he is one of the best baseball umpires in the state.

Great Bend people are loyal in one respect you will not find any other than Great Bend flour on sale at the stores. There. is no demand here for any outside flour. W. E.

Beardsley and wife returned last night from a visit of several weeks with relatives and friends in southeastern Kansas. Webb reports plenty of rain down there and the corn immense. W. M. Titus returned Friday from the southeastern part of the state where he has been the past few weeks.

He reports the crops looking fine there, also that the rainfall has been very heavy. He contemplates moving down in Allen county tbi fall. John Quillen, agent for the Standard Oil Company at this point, says unless a car of gasoline is received today there will be a gasoline famine on all over the county. They are out at Hoisington and the supply is down to bedrock here. The amount used at this distributing station is something enormous.

Railway Time Card. Moses Bros, have up a couple of extra large signs advertising their flour. The signs were painted by a traveling painter and are a credit to the profession. One sign adorns- the old opera bouse building and the other the building occupied by the Hooper Drug Co. All members Knights and Ladies of Security are requested to be present at regular meeting tomorrow night.
