Morton, a farm, hand, attempted to commit suicide Monday by throwing himself in front of a Missouri Pacific freight train, but was rescued by D. C. The many friends of Mr. John P. Hantla, former pastor of the Methodist Church, will be glad to learn he is a charter member of the Southwestern College chapter of the national oratory and debate fraternity, the Pi Kappa Delta. At a meeting last spring the trustees of Southwestern at Winfield authorized the installation of a chapter and this week saw its organization. Only those who have won a debate or an oratorical contest are eligible to membership, and of the entire student body' alumni, and faculty at the college only fifteen are eligible.

The fraternity is not a secret society in any way, nor a social organization, but is strictly an society, and membership in it is a much coveted honor.
