ED BARBER FOR STATE StJ PEKLYf EN DE NT. Some good men will be placed in nomiMation by their friends this year, in the Kepublican convention for the office of state superintendent. Among the names will be that of r. Barber, of A lien county. Mr.

Barber is a young mau of fine abili y. He is a graduate of the State Normal, and has served two terms as superintendent of public instruction in Alleu county. As stud nt, teacher, and county officer, Ed Barber has always been at the feat the writer knew Ed as a student; knew him to be a tireless worker and a man whose character was without reproach, and whose integrity was unquestioned. Mr. Barber is a Kepublican in whom there is no politeal gnile.

When every thing look- like an alliance tidal wave in Allen county one year ago last fall me of his friends thought that it might be policy for him to turn his face toward the new remained firm and true to the pridciplesof the Republican party, preferring defeat wi a clear conscience rather than ask favors for policy's sake. Barber went into the campaign as the Republican nominee and in the face of difficulty won. He was the thf only man elected on the Republican ticket that year. Mr. Barber is a man of whom the Republicans of the state would be proud should he be elected to the responsible position of s'ate superintendent.

Among all the probable candidates for that position in this state not oe brings a better claim on the confidence of the people than E. T. Barber of Allen county. There is one thing that the Republicans of this county must do and that is to send men to the county convention this year who have the interest of the country and the welfare of the Republican party foremost in their minds and hear s. Do not send men here who are simply Republicans because they hope to get something out of it.

Take this matter out of the bands of those who simply ride the Republican horse in order to accomplish selfish desires. Such men always hang onto every political party which happens to be in lican and the Kansas City Weekly Journal and Agriculturist one year for only S1.50. The regular price of the Republican is 81.00 The regu lar price of the Kansas City Weekly Journal and Agriculturist $1.00 Total $2.00 Making a grand present to each subscriber of .50 by taking advantage of this wonderful clubbing offer.
