is drilling on the Reed farm, southeast of More-head. The well on the Sicks farm proved dry, but will be drilled deeper in hope of striking another sand. The sub-lessees of the Independence Gas Co. began drilling last week, on the Judge Harrison farm. The Farmers Oil Gas Co.

brought in their No. 4 on the McDaniels farm, on July 27th. W. C. Gunn Co.

of Fort Scott, are making good progress with their well on the J. W. Hill farm west of Cherry- vale. The Oherryvale Oil Gas Co. is progressing nicely with, their well on the Thompson Gates farm, northwest of the city.

The Drum Creek Oil Co. brought in a well on the. Overfield farm. There is a showing of both oil and gas and it is reported to be a good well. The New York Oil Co.

is erecting a derrick on the William Blaichford farm, four miles south of Cherryale, and development in that part of the field will.be The Table Mound Cement well No. 3, on the Crane farm proved a gas-ser, and has been very difficult to control, but was capped last week. Location has been made for No. 4. The Kansas Oil Gas No.

1, on the Wilson farm, south of More-head, proved a duster. They are drilling No. 2, on the Smith farm, two and one miles southwest of Morehead. Leonard Boqua, contractors, are drilling No. 2, for some capitalists at Ashland, Kansas, on the Ashby farm, four miles west of Liberty.

Their No. 1, on the Linn farm, proved a duster. The well drilled in by Lovell on the John Duncan place, across the street from the county farm, proved a duster. Location has been made for another well a short distance east of this well. Horton-Bateman Co.

drilled a dry hole on the Cohr farm, six miles southwest of Independence. The well will be shot to test the ground thoroughly. Very slight indications of any production was found. The Farmers Oil, Gas Mineral Co. brought in their No.

4, on the Veerders farm last week. It is reported to be a very good well. Location has been made for well No. 5, and work will be commenced at once. The Springfield Crude brought in their No.

7 last week on the Parent land, in the northeast limits of Coffey-vllle. The well is claimed to be the best yet drilled in by this company. Work has been commenced on No. 8 on the same land. The Caney Valley Co-operative Oil, Gas Mineral Co.

brought in oiler No. 2, on the Gilliland lease, on the Oil sand was found at a depth of 1,218 feet with 19 feet pay. The sand is of good quality and the well estimated at 40 barrels. The well on the Joyce farm, recently drilled by the Independence Gas Co. has not yet been shot, as they have a bad fishing job on hand.

One string of tools and 250 feet of casing are in the well, arid after they are removed the well will be shot. The Coffeyville Brick Co. is soon to commence drilling for oil on their leases around Cherryvale. They have let contract to Patton Woodford, who have one rig now in the field. The first well will be drilled on the Andy McCormick farm, southeast of the city.

The Federal Betterment Co. brought in their No. 8, on the Christian Blaes farm. The well filled up 500 feet, one hour after the shot. It is claimed to be as good as their No.

6. Location has been made for Nos. 9 and 10, one on the same farm, and one on their own farm. Another rig will be put at work. An experienced drilling crew arrived last week from Pueblo, Colorado, where they had just completed a 2,200 foot well, to drill for the Vulcan Oil Gas Co.

This company has had bad luck with its wells, as it has three crooked holes near Havana, but expect better results with this new drilling crew. The Cherryvale Oil Gas Cp. brought in their first well on the 10th. The well is located on the Thompson Gates farm, northwest of Cherryvale, and directly north of the Spin-dletop wells. The sand was struck at 805 feet, and showed 19 feet pay.
