Mr. Wldby is a graduate of Tho Union Collego of Law, the law department of tho University or Chicago and Northwestern University, Chicago, tho same law school rrom which Morris Cliggott graduated. His diploma is dated Juno 5th, 1879. On tho 17th or June or tho same year he was admitted to practlco In tho supreme court or Illinois.

He came to Kansas in July, locating at Burlington, being admitted as a member or the Coffey county bar in August, 1879. He was in active practlco there until April, 1885, when he came to Gl-rard, and was engaged in the profession until about three years ago, when he changed vocations for a time, entering the mercantile business and afterwards the real estate and loan business. His reading and practice qualify hira to do jiidtico to his clients, and he will try to do his whole duty whenever em 1 ployed. A Foolish Scare. Our city was thrown into a state of excitement this morning by reading in the "boom" sheet a proclamation from tho mayor announcing that there were five developed cases of small pox In the city, aud ordering tho vaocinutiou of every woman and child in the city under penalty of a fine of from $1 to J100.

As soon as Dr. Geo. E. Cole, tho ati binding physician, could bo found, he was. interviewed in regard to the matter.

He said in substanco that he bad diagnosed the cases from the first as being contagious eruptive fevers. He did not particularize or specify the name, but he said that while ho had never had a case of small pox in his praetico, he was very sure that the cases in question were not small pox. They did not answer tho description of cases laid down In the books, and the process did not tally with reports he has read and studied regarding small pox. The hullabaloo raised was doing no good, as the house had been quarantined several days ago, and every precaution had been taken that is usually taken In contagious diseases. That was nearly three weeks ago, and yet no one outside or the family had been affected.
