The National liberal and spiritual camp meeting commences at Bismarck Grove, Lawrence, Kansas, on September 5, and lasts until September 12. Many emiuent speakers are engaged, and several noted mediums will be present.

The platform is to be free to all denominations. Among the speakers invited are Prof. Wra. Denton, B. F.

Underwood, Hudson Tuttle, Col. Robert G. Ingersoll, Mrs. E. Cady Stanton, Parker Pillsbury, H.

The delivery of the Lawrence City Directory will commence tomorrow morning. The book will be without a doubt the most satisfactory work that has been presented.to our people. Johnson McKinney, by the neat appearance of the book, have shown themselves to be thoroughly posted in this brauch of business.

The alphabetical arrangement of names, the full and complete list of our business houses, and the presentation of the names and location of our churches, schools, colleges, societies, and corporations, together with the names of -city, county, State, and court officers recommend it to our people as an indispensible work. It presents a well-written Lawrence history. The book is printed on fine tinted paper, and issued fromthe best material. Cutler's job rooms). Lizzie Warfield, colored, swore out a warrant this afternoon against Bud Franklin, also colored, charging him with the theft of a gold ring from hir, valued at five dollars. A new pleasure steamer on the Kaw above the dam is among the possibilities. Mr. and Mrs. Washington Had-ley returned from Chicago yesterday. Miss Flora will follow in a day or two.

Mr. E. T. Hall went to Kansas City to-day. Wonder if he fouud the Houghtel in at Lawrence? To-peka Capital.

Bishop Vail will take a promi-nent part in the Church Encampment, commencing on the 26th of the present month. Mr. Moak has recemd the most of the insurance money his burned elevator, and will commence the erection of a new one in Sep: tember. Anything but a Bwcet smell comes up the alley south of the Reporter office. The attention of the city authorities is called to this nuisance that it may be abated.

Personal. Mrs. Junk and her accomplished daughter Miss Clara, left on the noon train for an extended trip West. Dr. J.

Fugate left on the early morning train to make a professional visit to Olathe, in answer to a telegraphic call. Albert Colb, of Wyandotte, was among the passenger on the Sauta Fe west, to-day. N. O. Stevens went to Topeka' this morning in the interest of the Kaw Valley Fair, of which ha is Secretary.

Col. C. K. Holliday, of Topeka, is in the city. The many friends of Mr.

Thos. Ly nn will be glad to learn that he is now traveling in California. When last heard from he and his wife were at Sacramento. Mr. T.

C. Darling, of Eudora, is in the city. Mr. F. G.

Adams, of Topeka, came down to attend the old settlers committee meeting, yesterday. LOCAL NEWS. Ice, ice, Ice, Julius Fischer. Hot Rolls every p. m.

at Brett'e. The most refreshing Lemonade at Porter's. It is a good honest phiz at Porter's Boda Fount. Thermometers stood at 68 degrees at 1 o'clock this afternoon. "This is delicious," said a young lady while partaking of some of Porter's ice cream.

Now is the time to fill your ice coolers with some of that choice article served by Julius Fischer. How often must we tell you that you can do better at Good Hard castle than any other place in the State. Ford is the oldest and most reliable grocer in Lawrence, and keeps everything that is good, fresh, and cheap if you don't believe it call and look, and if you don't see what you want ask for it.

The city Las taken possession of the rock quarries on Oread Avenue and will hereafter quarry its own stone. The men who have been get. ting put rock there have been notified that they must do bo no more, as it is city property. Don't shoot! at any other target except the one next door to the post office. Good guns, good targets and good lights.
