Williams recently returned from a trip to Missouri, whither he bad gone to view a farm, for which he had some idea of trading his property ia this valley. Il is useless for us to say that a comparison, by sight, of the crops in that State with those in this valley, was sufficient to cause him to change his mind, and to conclude to remain in Kansas. In fact he turned around before reaching his destination, fully convinced that a man who had lived several years in Kansas, could not, and would not, live in Missouri.

Epitob During high waters and busy times I have been neglect ing my pen, but will now try to give a few items for the benefit of your readers. Kicbland is still alive and on the go. Oats are harvested, and wheat i9 being threshed. Wheat is not a very good price, and most of our farmers will hold it until they can receive a fair price. Corn is splendid; never was there a better prospect for it.

It is from eight to seventeen feet high; some in roasting-ears. Can any cf our Eastern friends eay as much. We would advise some of those people in the East who say that '-Kansas people are tie biggest liars in the world," to come out and see for themselves. It is useless to give a description of Richland township, as it will compare favorably with any in the county, and you have frequently published a full description of the latter, and devote one column of your valuable paper for the benefit of home-seekers; but still they say ''Kansas editors are not responsible, and tbey would like a description irem a reliable friend. I will just say to at claim to be an honest gentleman; I am not a cut-throat, a horse thief or a preacher, bat sim ply an honest reporter, and con cerning the crop descriptions of Butler county given by the Gazette, tbat instead of overrating things our honest editor has underrated them in several respects; and as be seems to take an interest in the development of oar county, my advise is take hit pfrper.

He has more time for writing up the county, and I will venture to say that if yon read his paper yoa will get the truth. If yoa can't believe the editor or reporter, jnst keep writing to your friends, and, in a few years, you will find jour purse will be by far too small to purchase land in Southern Kansas.
