IRIDAY, "DEC. 7, 1900. Killed by the Cars. Yesterday afternoon about four o'clock John Harter, an old resident of this locality was struck by the engine pulling the first section of the south bound through freight and instantly! killed. The accident occured at the road, crossing one mile north of town and about a half mile west of the home of the deceased.

He had been to town during the day and had started home in a wagon with a man working on the place. But prefering to walk he got out near the home of Jessey Stewart and proceeded on foot. He reached the crossing just le ore the train did. He apparent ly heard the whistled and hesitated, so the train mcn say, and then either in bewilderment or from miscalculation by reason of his defective sight or hearing he attempted to cross ahead of the engive. He was struck and knocked into the 'cattle guard on the east side of the track and south of the crossing.

He lived but a few minutes after the accicent. Mr. Harter was quite old and enfeebled by paralysis. No blame can be attached to anyone. The body was taken to the home of his son S.

A meeting of the citizens of Chelsea last night decided that the township would rote aid to the Orient railway in 820,000 bonds, for ten miles of road. Their desire is for a railway and telegraph station, sidetrack, stock yards, within mile of the centre of section 34-24-6, just north of H.

H. Kobel's. The meeting was harmonious and practically unanimous in its action. The location for the station is east of the one provided on the old Santa Fe grade. Eldorado Times.

White, was married on the evening uf Thanksgiving to Mr. Ralph A. Rowe. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's parents in Richland township, in the presence of a large number of guests. Rev.

Griswold, Agent. Additional Local and County News Pulled the Hole in After Her. From Douglass Tribune: Jesse White lost a cow on the 14th and for a week could not find trace of her. Then he went to investigating a straw stack in the field where she had been. Back under the stack he found the cow, where she had been imprisoned for a whole week.

She had eaten a hole in the stack, worked herself back into the hole and then pulled the hole in after her. Or perhaps the straw had settled down over the opening. The cow was all right when found, but ready for something to drink. For Hoarseness. Benj.
