The Official Paper of Chase County Cottonwood Valley News. VOL. 4 CEDAR POINT, KANSAS, FEBRUARY 24, 1916. No. 30 MONEY TO LOAN We have an unlimited supply of Money, and will have during the entire year, to loan on Farm Property in Chase County, Kansas, at Reasonable Rates with a small commission.

LOANS CLOSED PROMPTLY BELL, PENNY BLACKBURN Telephone No. 30. COTTONWOOD FALLS, KANSAS Mrs. Susana Frank Dead. Susana Frank, better known as Grandma Frank, died at her home in this city last Friday morning, at the advanced age of 87 years.

Susana Baublits, daughter of ter and Alice Baublits, was born April 8, 1826, in Woodbury, Baltimore county, Maryland. On August 5, 1847, she was united in marriage with Philip Frank in Baltimore, Maryland. About 60 years ago they moved from Maryland to Marysville, then called Brownsville, where they lived for five yeurs. Then they moved to Chase county, Kansas, and settled at the place now called Wonsevu, this being their old homestead. In 1887 they moved to the farm where Levi Pinkston now lives south of Cedar Point.

Mr. Frank died November 15, 1900, and Mrs. Frank later moved to Cedar Point, where she has since resided. Mr. and Mrs.

Frank were blessed with eleven chiidren, six of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Jennie Critser, of Midlothian, Mrs. Sarah Pinkston, of Wellston, H. A.

Frank, of Bristow, J. W. Frank, of Waynoka, Okla; Mrs. Josie Meade of Cedar Point, Kansas; and Mrs. Aletha Erwin, of Caney, Kansas.

Five are dead: Lucinda Frank, died December 25, 1852, in Indiana: Abarilla Frank died February 10, 1870 at Wonseyn, Kansas, Mary Elizabeth Crisup died March 19, 1882, near Vinita, Mrs. Phoebe Ann Stauffer died in Portland, Oregon, July 13, 1909; Mrs. Rosa Clark died January 7, 1916, at Cleveland, Oklahoma. Mrs. Frank united with the Baptist church very early in life.

For about 43 years she has been a member of the Methodist church. Grandma Frank, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her best, was a good neighbor, and especially kind in her care of the sick, aid many who survive her will long treasure the memory of neighborliness. She and her husband were among the earlist settles of this section of the county. There were here in the time of the Indian. Those were great days, when visitors were feasted on buffalo meat, and the bors banded together from the sometimes hostile Indians.

And many are the times when these study pioneers took refuge in the old Fort which stood on the old Drinkwater homestead. So the pioneer fathers and mothers who have given us the blessings of civilization which we prize and enjoy, are dropping off one by one. Only a few are lert, and they will soon be gone. We are sorry to see them go; but let us learn from these sturdy pioneers the great lesson of noble living and loving sacrific and service. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city Sunday morning, conducted Rev.

Leigh, and interinent was made in the Wonsevu cemetery. C. B. Aves was in attendance at the Democratic banquet at Topeka March Court Docket. The March term of the district court of Chase county will' convene on Monday, March 5th.
