Co. Relief Fund Social. There will be a plain basket supper at the Union school house on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 25, and the proceeds will be given to the Belgian relief fund Taxes Are Due. The 1913 taxes are now due and payable at the county treasurer's office or at the different banks of the county.

The taxes in Homestead, Cedar and Cottonwood townships can be paid at the Cedar Point State Bank. Morton-Heskett. William Heskett, who runs a restaurant at Cottonwood Falls was married to Mrs. Osie Morton in Emporia last Friday. They will make their home at the Falls.

Ed Forney Sells Out. Ed Forney has sold his blacksmith shop at Cottonwood Falls to C. R. James of Concordia, who has already taken possession. The Forney shop was established by Wm.

Forney many years ago. He sold it to his son Ed some time ago. Mr. Forney has probably been actively engaged at his trade as long as any man in the state. Belgian Relief Fund.

The News is in receipt of a letter from Georges Mignolet, the Belgian Consul at Kansas City, authorizing us to accept contributions to the Belgian relief fund. Any of our readers desiring to make cash contributions can bring or send same to this office and it will be promptly forwarded to the Belgian Consul and a receipt will be sent from him. The death of Jacob North, a native of the Province of Alsace-Lorraine, France, which has been the scene of extensive hostilities during the present war in Europe, and for nearly forty years a resident of this county, where he was a successful farmer, has just occurred at the National Military Home at Leavenworth. Born in 1836, he emigrated to America at the age of 17 years, first settling in New York, but later going to Montecello, Wisconsin, where in 1864 he was married to Miss Amanda Lemmon. In 1876 the family moved to Kansas and this county has since been their home. Besides his wife five danghters survive him They are Mrs.

Bennett of Hutchinson; Mrs. Carrie Park, of Faulkner, and Mrs. Emma A. Marchicos of Wichita Kansas. Drinkwater-Morgan.

Mr. Bert Otis Morgan, of Los Angeles, California, and Miss Winnie Drinkwater of Cedar Point, Kansas, were married last Wednesday, November 11, at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Lorene Patterson, 1110 North Hoover street, Los Angeles. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. O.

H. Drinkwater, and was born and raised at Cedar Point. The groom was born in Tennessee but with his parents moved to Dublin, Texas, when quite young, and hore grew to manhood. For several years he has been living in California. The young couple first met several years ago when the bride was visiting her sister in Los Angeles.

They will make their future home 4417 Santa Monica Boulevard. The groom is employed in the U. S. railway postal service and has a run on Santa Fe trains No. 3 and 4, between Los Angeles and Ash Fork, Arizona.

Celebrated Golden Wedding. Mr and Mrs. A. M. Breese of the Falls celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Tuesday of last week.

They were married at Mount Gilead, Ohio, on Nov. 10, 1864 and have lived in this county since 1878. Mr. Breese was formerly treasurer of this county, and he served six years as commander of the Soldiers Home at Fort Dodge, the last four years he was there being from 1909 to 1913. They have just moved into the handsome new home which they have built in the Falls.

Gamer-Foxworthy. The wedding of a well known Chase county young couple occurred at the Catholic Church in Strong City, Wednesday, Nov. 11, when Harry Gamer of Diamond creek and Lilah- Foxworthy of South Fork were united in marriage by the Catholic priest. After the wedding the young couple left on a short wedding trip, and upon their return will make their home on Diamond creek, where the groom is engaged in farming. Payne-Anderson.

A well known Clements young couple, Mr. Clarence Anderson and Miss Florence Payne, were married in Cottonwood Falls last Thursday, Nov. 12, by Rev. Alexander Gillmore, the Presbyterian minister. They will make their home on the Dave Wood ranch, where Mr Anderson is emplsyed.
