J. Barbre, Agent. riiANK V1UVEL DEAD, A Bright Young; man and a Former Normal Nludent Fuui Away. The (hocking new of the death of Frank Varvel reaohed Emporia this afternoon. He died to day at 2:30 o'clock, of malignant typhoid foyer, at his home in Conoordia, Kas.

Mr Varvel left Emporia about a week ago on account of his sickness and after arriv ing home gradually grew worse until his deutli. He was a bright and promising young man and was a general favorite among the students at Emporia. At the State Normal where attended two years, no one was more respected. During vacation last year ami again this season, be made the Kansas league circuit as catcher for the Maroons, und whether upon the diamond, or in the school room he was ever tho same gentlemanly, genial young man. This year Mr.

Varvel bad been engaged as principal of the school in Concordia which was to have begun th tirst of next month. He wa a strong, powerfully Hnilt young man and up to the time of hi last Illness seemed to enjoy the most perfect health. The news of his death will be a most painful surprise to his many friend.
