'There are some liars on Rock Creek the Marquett Tribune. We heard a farmer say that between each row of corn in his neld there is a rick of shelled corn, the cobs being too short to hold all the corn that has grown this season, and he thinks from present conditions that his crop of shelled corn will exceed that of the corn on the cob Atchison Journal. The farmers here raise a kind of corn with a gourd that grows on top of the stalk which holds the shelled eorn that is crowded off the cars and when the gourd is full a little bell rings and and the farmer empties the ourd, thus saving all the corn. A Word to Oar Friends. Last sabbath closed the third quarter of this year in the Sabbath School work.

And the year ot the present managment. We desire to thank the people of Oketo for their many kindnesses to the school. Beginning next Sunday is the last quarter of the year, but not the least in its interest, especially to the children. tVe desire the parents to bring their children ami enjoy the school. If you honestly think as parents you have done your duty in the past in this respect; look around you and see if new oppor tunities have not come tip for you improve.

Kings wedding known as the china wedding and abot 75 relatives gathered at their home to help them properly celebrate the event. A royal good time was had. A. L. Miller accompanied by Robert Alves, went out to Lincoln connty the first of the week after some cattle and returned Thursday with 200 head.

P. Pierson also brought in 80 head on the same tram from Lincoln county. Mr. Z. H.

Moore has let the con tract for the building of a new stone bank on the old site. Wm. Dooley moyed the old building ont of the way the first of the week. Birnes Kelley are the lucky masons who will erect the new building. We would be very happy to have some of those parties keep their promise that agreed to tend in their subscription within a few days.
