We assume that every buyer of our goods is a competent judge of quality, skill and workmanship. The better the judge the greater the satisfaction, for we buy with a view to securing the patronage of the most able and most critical.

Temporary success may be gained in many ways, but a success to be lasting must rest on solid merit. It is our fixed purpose to maintain our unquestionable ascendancy. To this end every department of our business has been enlarged to meet the increasing demand of our customers. The following paragraph taken from Monday's Topeka Daily Capital should be read by every youngman who has created an appetite f'dr liquor or who at times may only take a drink L. M. Plank was brought to the police station last night from the Office block on Fifth street with a bad case of polly-wogs; rattlesnakes and sea serpents.

He was raising the fruit of a desperate jag. He had delerium tremens. Plank thought that almost everything was after him. He wildly pulled several yards of imaginary snakes out of his mouth. He danced on dens of copper-heads, and uncoiled snakey spirals from his arms and legs.

Almost all night last night he performed contortions and dodged imaginary danger at the city jail. Young man realize yourself in the condition that this man must have been in. Think of the idea of having a deranged mind caused by this evil habit. Think of the grief arid sorrow you put upoii your father, mother arid friends by this curse. Should you allow yourself to become a wreck, physically and mnetally, without the least forethought? Drinking is not a necessity; it is not manly; it has no elevating influences; it only has the degrading influence which takes you to the gutter and makes you unfit for business and societj-.

Think young man, and if you respect your parents you will never lift the cup to your lips, but will become a man among men, with a clear head, better physically, mentally and financially to fight the battles that are met through life. them an abundance of happiness and prosperity. Talk about monstrosities. Here is a description of one that is certainly a world beater. Mr. Martin Burke, of Cleveland township, is the owner of a sow that can lay claim to being the material ancestor cf the greatest monstrosity the world has ever known.

One day last week this particular sow gave birth to a litter of pigs, and among them was one very curiously-formed pig. It had two bodies, fully developed arid of good form from the neck back. The two bodies were provided with legs and one tail each, and one was a maie 'and the other female. Just in front of the shoulders the necks were joined into one, but there were four ears arid only two eyes. The upper part of the head was perfectly formed, but there was no lower jaw.
