The officers of the Sunday School are elected at the annual meeting of the congregation, the school being a part of the church's work. The treasurer's report showed a balance of $11 in the treasury. The secretary's report indicated a smaller average attendance than last year, and when we remember the number of families that have removed out of reach the cause is not far to seek. All the officers of last year were reelected and are as follows Superintendent, James K. Downard.

Assistant, Mrs. I. B. Ileisey. Secretary, Edna Copeland.

Treasurer, Ruth Rice. Librarian, Nellie Flook. Organist, Maud Livers. Assistant, Mildred Flook. It has been decided to hold a teachers' meeting on the last Thursday evening of each month.

A midsummer picnic is also being planned for the little folks. Hebron Church, Cottage Hill. This congregation will ho'd a meeting after the regular service on Sunday, Jan. 23rd, at which time it is expected that the following officers will be endorsed as the officers of the congregation: Elders: Geo. R.

Kistler, 2 years. John Rodocker, 1 year. Deacon: Andrew Hirt, 2 years. M. M.

Rice, 1 year. Trustees: Charles Stenson, years. L. K. Kistler, 2 years.

Roy Rodocker, 1 year. Communion and benevolence offering days will probably be April 3rd, June 23th, Sept. 12th and Dec. 25th. Marriages.

Mr. Lawrence Benfield and Miss Katherine Downard were married at the parsonage on Thursday evening, Dec. 9, at 9.30. They went at once to their new home in the southwest part of town where they will welcone their friends. Mr.

Clarence Ham and Miss Rose M. Theissen were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents seven miles northeast of Waterville on Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, at noon. A large company of relatives were present to congratulate the young people and make merry. Mr.

Warren Lewis and Miss Etta M. Davis were married at the parsonage on Wednesday evening, Dec. 22nd, at 8:30. A few relatives were present. The young people spent Christmas with friends in Oklahoma.

All these young people have our heartiest congratulations and best wishes for happy wedded life. The pastor's record shows fourteen marriages for 1909, two more I than for any previous year. Almost Ruined. Topeka, Kansas, Dec. given out today by the secretary of the state board of control of charitable institutions show that the state of Kansas, with one-fifth the population of New York has onetenth the number of insane inhabitants; that Cook county, Illinois has more insane patients than the total population of all the charitable, correctional and penal institutions of the state of Kansas.

Twenty-one counties of the state sent no convicts to the penitentiary last year; sixteen counties did not have a single person sentenced to any penal or correctional institution. In twenty-eight counties the poor farms are without inmates, and in eighty-five counties out of the 105 counties in the state there are no insane patients. -Selected. The pastor and wife were entertained for New Year's dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

R. Summers. Mr. James Downard has gone into the implement business with Mr. Thornt Thomas.

We predict success for him in his new work. He knows both the implements and the people. people. Some of our people have asked and they have a right to know, what the pastor's salary is? The Waterville congregation now pays $500 00 and furnishes parsonage and the other two have each paid a little over $100. The fees for different services have this year amounted to $180.00.
