The Local Lantern. The Only Straight Democratic VOL. 2. MARYSVILLE, KANSAS, Democratic County Convention. There will be held at the Turner hall in the eity of Marysville, Kansas, on 28th, at 1 o'clock p.

a delegate tion of the democratic party for the purpose of plaeing in nomination didates for the following named offices: State Senator, Clerk District Oourt, Superintendent Public Instruction, Probate Judge, Oounty Attorney. The basis of representation in said convention shall be one delegate for every 20 votes cast for John W. Leedy for governor at the regular election election held in 1898. It is mended that townships hold their premaries to seleot delegates on Saturday, August 85th. and at 2:30 commenced talking to the largest crowd of people ever gathered to hear anyone talk in Marshall county, though his coming was net thoroughly advertised, the crowd was estimated all the way from 2,000 to 5,000 attemtive listeners. Miss Annie is at this writing getting along as well as could be expected. DEATHS: Samuel Clyde DeLair, of Balderson township, died on Thursday, Aug. 16-h he was in his I8th year. Mra. J.

J. Barber, of Wells townebip died at her home Thursday morning, Aug, 16th, aged 61 ears. Mra. Martin Piel, of this city, aged 65 years, died at the family residence Aug. 21et at 5 o'clock p.

A. Richey, one of Hanover's popular business men, was in the city last Wednesday. -Caleb Powere, of the state of Kentusky. charged with being an accessory to the murder of the late Gov. Goebel, was found guilty and sentenced to the penitentiary for life.

-Misses Elsie Kahlke and Elyera Draheim, two of our brightest little girls, visited the Wald family at ver last week and were accompanied home by Miss Gertie Robinson of that place. -T. G. Fitch, of Fitch's Bazaar, returned from New York, Friday moraing, where he purchaeed a large stock of goods whieb will arrive in a few days and will be marked down to the lowest notch. -Thomas Joseph Keegan, the wild man who was brought in about the middle of July and turned over to the shiriff, was judged insane last Taesday, and will be taken to the asylum.
