Home City Tribune VOL. 111 HOME CITY, MARSHALL COUNTY, KANSAS, FRIDAY, MAY 19, 1911 NO. 32 OUR MOTTO; NEVER DO TO DAY WHAT YOU CAN PUT OFF UNTIL TOMORROW Gottlieb Reinhardt Gottlieb Reinhardt was born August 5th 1839 in Swabianland Germany. tie died at his home in! Home City lay 10th 1911. Fe was 71 years old.

Mr. Reinhardt spent the early part of his life in his native land. There he was educated and learned the trade. of miller. He came to America in 1879 and settled on a farm in Minnesota, where he for three years and the a moved to western Nebraska and lived there six years comia! to Marshall County in 1888.

He ha; lived on a farm contiously sine that until about two years ago when he retired from active work and moved to Home City. In 133: Reindardt was united in marrate to Lizzie Fredrich. To union eight children were born, namely Barney, Charles, Christnea, now Mrs. John Koll, Louisa, now Mrs. Alex.

Mohrbacher, Katie now Mrs. Aug. Kramme, G. W. and Louie of Home City and Willie, whodied when a small boy.

'These seven living children together with his wife, who is an invalid, mourn his death, Mr. Reinhardt was one of these sturdy Germans who have done much to raise the standard of the community in which they lived. He was plain honest and unassuming and went direct to the heart of any work he undertook to do. He bore all the privations of frontier life in the wild and developed lands of Minnesota and western Nebraska and when he came to Marshall County, strengthened by these trails, he easily became one of the most successful farmers in this community. No man could raise better wheat, corn or or oats than he, and no one kept his farm and buildings looking neater then he.

His mind was artistic in its simplicity and he is one of the best examples we know of men possessed of this fine quality. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hansen, pastor of the Luthern church and his body laid to rest in the Home City Cemetery. Were Good Games. The basket ball games played at the opera house here Friday evening were both good games.

The first game was between the Summerfield high school girl team and the Home City team. The visitors won the game by the score of 26 to 18. The locals were outweighed by their opponents and were also lacking in experience as the visitors had had lots more training than the locals. Our girls put up a good game fight but lost. The throwing of goals by Miss Goldsberry was the feature of the game, she seemingly being able to throw them at will.

The second game was between the high school boys team and the team of boys picked up around town and was won by the former by the score of 30 to 22. The game was on from the first blast of the referee's whistle until it belw again for the finish. This was one of the roughest games ever witnessed here and as both sides had made much talk as to what they would do to the other team, all semblance of science was thrown to the winds and it was get your man before he gets you. Black, Dugan and Graham did the best work for the high school team while Post, Transue and McClure starred for the town. Summerfield Sun.
