Evans will visit her husband a few days and Mis. Lathero will go on to her home in Wisconsin. The Ingalls items wero received too lato tor publicat ion last week. Riddolt the photographer of Gray county was in Fowler Monday taking the likonesses of some of our bust looking people He says he will put in about two days out of the week ill Fowler this coming summer. Scandrett is a good business man and is sure to succeed ul anything he uudortukos. famous for the many social gath erings which they enjoy and the jolly good time hich is always had at these iunctious, hut ot the many affairs none has proved more successful or has yielded more unadulterated fun than the masquorado ball given in tho band hall in Cimarron last Fri day night under the direction of Kd Morrison and Pen alker. Tho attendance was large, and yet the floor was not crowded af-tr tho early part of the evening. The floor was in splendid condit ion and tho musicians, Alley and Pen Walker, fairly outdid themselves in furnishing inspiring music for the dancers. Tho per cent of those who masked for the occasion was large.

The costumes wero elaborate and uniqe, ranging trom tho heauutul to the grotesque. Tho grand march took place at o'clock nnd the long lino of dancers presented most interesting nnd kalaedoscopic ef fect. A number of dances wero had after the grand march and then came the unmasking which occasioned the usual amount of surprise and amusement. There after dancing was immediately resumed and continued until far into tho night or perhaps we should say morning, us somo of the dancers didn leave till day light. Those who participated tho evening's jollity are unanimous in the belief that they had never attended function which was more enjoyable.

Tho Flynn boys, of Wilbnrn, wero much in evideneo and had on enjoyable time. Many strangers wero present and the town boys strained a point to see that they had a good lime. Having made such a grand success of their latest effort Pen Walker and Ed Morrison uro entitled to try it again. Several good prompters wore on hand, but Pill Harrier carried oil' the honors of tho evening as the best of all. Pill hus a good voice and keeps his eye on the dancers.

We nro laying for the fellow who said the Sentinel editor moved around like an ice wagon. Wo can dunce just as ell ns Amos Dixon, Frank Luther or any of the rest of the boys. Kd Burro! of Ford county, was on hand, bringing with him tho usual number of haudsomo Indies all good dancers. Kd is about the hottest number on the Arkan-saw and will never grow old. Frank Luther absolutely refuses to grow old.

Ho wus on hand early and ufter a lest of twenty years took the floor any demon strated to tho hoys that he could "bulanco on tho corner" us well us any of them. Fletcher Hintt is thinking of instituting a damage suit against Frank Luther and Jim Hart lor good and sutliciont cause. On account of the previous good reputation of tho jiartics wu will not give full particulars. Who would have imagined that Jim Wilson was such a warm nr- tide? 1'arln. The community learned with surprise and regret of the death of John M. Paris, an old and respected citizen of the county, which occurred atthe family homo in Foote township about 1 1 p. m. Sunday, February 24, 1001.

Asa result of exposure nnd hardships during the war he hud not been in tho best of health for manv years, yet the illness which terminated in his death was of but a few hours duration. He hud been complaining during the day but. his condition was not considered serious. Ho was suddenly taken with a fainting spell and passed away without a murmur or struggle, surrounded by members of fa mil' and neighbors who were ministering to his wants. Dr.

McCarty, of Dodge City, was called, but arrived in Cimarron after his death. John Melville Paris was born in tho state of Indiana in thevear 1841, being ono of a family ot' six sons and two daughters. Ho served throe years in the war of the rebellion with tho Kltli Indiana mounted infantry took part in the opening of tho Mississippi and Red River expeditions; was shot down in tho battle at Richmond, and again at Arkansas Post. Ho was married to Miss Francis Crawley in Indiana in 18I1H, moved to Gray county in 1881, nnd located in Gray county, Kansas, in 1880, where ho resided until the time of his death. Ho united with the M.

E. Church in 180(1. He was generous to fault, much devoted to his family, and never failed a friend. Ho leaves a wife, three sous and six daughters to mourn his loss; also relatives and a host of comrades and friends. The funeral was held Monday from tho M.

E. Church, Riiv. L. M. ILill, preaching the sermon.

The old soldiers uttonded in a body, taking charge of the remains and conducting tlio service at the grave.
