At about one o'clock Tuesday morning a fire was discovered in election, in said county, for permanent county seat thereof, and that the defendants herein were, at the regular November, iSSS election duly elected to the officeset opposite the name of each such defendant, respectively; that said defendants are now, and ever since have been the duly elected, qualified and acting county officers of said county of Gray, that is to say defendant A. F. Malo, sheriff; defendant J. Cailey, clerk of the district court; defendant George B. Antrim, county clerk; defendant J.

H. Williams, county treasurer; defendant K.J. Clark, register of deeds; defendant F. Hammer, superintendent of public instruc tion; defendant J. R.

R. Messerly's, occupied by L. D. Einscl's hardware and A D. Wet-tick's livery stable and in almost no time a half block was all in flames.

A. moved their said offices to the town of Ingalls some eight miles distant from the said town of Cimarron, county seat aforesaid, and have ever since continued to hold and still hold their said offices at said town of Ingalls, without excuse or legal justification and contrary to law.

4. The said plaintiff on the relation aforesaid, further shows to the honorable court that at the election for permanent county seat of said county heretofore referred to, the said town of Ingalls was a candidate, but failed to receive a majority of the votes cast at thesaid election; that said defendants at such election were partisans of said town of Ingalls and as is invariably the case in such contests, claim that their candidate was not fairly defeated; that in order to defeat the will of the people of said county as expressed in the result of said election, and subvert jus Dealer In ty, Kansas, I. Blincoe's team ran away from the school house last Wednesday night during prayer meeting; they were out all night and came back in the morning without the buggy. Joe was out all night looking for them. The buggy was found next morning on U. P. Unkefc 's place turned up side down, no damage except a few scratches.

W. J. Woodard will go to Greens-burg this week, to attend conference H. A. II.

That prior to the organization thereof as in hereinafter set out, the said county of Gray, in the state of Kansas, was an unorganized county; that in the month of July, 1887, said county upon proper proceedings being had, was duly and regularly organized in the manner in such cases provided by law, by the Governor, who then appointed three citizens, householders of said county, to be county Commissioners thereof, one to act as County Clerk and one as Sheriff thereof, and designated the town of Cimarron in said county to be the temporary county seat thereof. 2. That thereupon all of the persons appointed by the Governor as aforesaid, duly qualified in the offices to which they were respectively appointed, as aforesaid, and proceeded to discharge the duties of such officers; that the commissioners so appointed proceeded as by the law required, to divide said county into townships, and duly and legally cal-ed and gave notice of an election to be held in said county on the 31st day of October in said year for the purpose of electing the various county and township officers of said coun ANSIS.

The entire loss is about $20,000. This ought to urge the completion of the water works immcdately, and we think the general opinon is that it will. Understand, the Echo will work day and night to build up here a beautiful city. We want to see the town run out Avenue beyond the nursery, northward to the cemetary, west to Sheldon's then over the river, till the valleys and hills are decked with beautiful homes, tenanted by a body of happy, prosperous people. Some 15,000 people will yet dwell upon the rolling prairies of old Gray.

Herds of cattle, droves of horses, bountiful crops, will soon bless us. It is the will of God; for when from His paternal hand these rich acres fell, He saw also the coming millions, the sea of humanity, which would curing of said alternative writ of mandamus, the voluntary compliance therewith, and all and everything done by defendants in and about said affair, were and are collusive on C.
