L. Sunley east of town Monday morning, December 14; all parties are doing nicely and it is hoped that "Grandpa" Stall will pull through. Mr. and Mrs. Herbort Trott left Monday night on the flyer for Kansas City, where Mrs.

Trott will enter a hospital for medical treatment. She has been sick for several months and lately her condition has become 80 serious that it was decided to take her to the hospital and it is seared that an may be necessay. W. P. Anderson returned from the western part of the state last Saturdav.

Sarah King was born near Kingston, Canada, July 13, and died at Brownell, Kansas, Degember 13, 1908. Funeral services were held in Baptist church at this place Monday, December 14, conducted by Rev. J. W. Vanderlip, assisted by Rev.

O. E. Riblet, and the remains laid to rest in the Brownell cemetery. In 1863 she was married to Joseph Trott 1 to which union six children were born, threa of whom survive her, Daniel E. Trott of Garden City, William E.

Trott and Emma A. Mettlen of this place. She was converted to the Methodist faith in early life, to which she clung with the simple trusting faith required by the Master. With her family she located in this neighor borhood in 1879 and was influential in the organ ization of the first Sabbath school of this neighborhood, being honored by being chozen its first as superintendent, which work she followed up until the family moved to Emporia, Kansas, in 1892, at which place they remained for about eight years. While living in Emporia her husband died and soon after she returned to Brownell where she has resided until her death, which resulted from an attack of pneumonia.

Her presence will be greatly missed by our people for her Christian work 8g well as for her work in the W. C. T. of which she was an active mem ber. CARD OF THANKS We take this method of thanking the friends for their kind treatmeut and aid in caring for our Mother in her last illness and in laying her away in her last resting place.

Elmer says you can't ever tell what they are going to do regarding school land any more and that he prefers not to take the chance of waking up some morning and finding some one else liv ng on his quarter.

Starrett unloaded a car of cattle here yesterday, which his son, Bud Starrett brought doun from their ranch in Colorado, and had them tak en out to the Hayes ranch where tl ey will be wintered. John Lovitt, G. M. Ryan, E. Chenoweth, Jas.

Wilson, Roll Grum bein, Ben Hicks and Bert Juvenal came up from McCracken Wednesday evening to attend the meeting of the Woodman lodge and assist in the initiation of two candidates. Messrs. Chenoweth and Ryan remained over night in town, returning home Thurs. day. Wm.

Pratt and wife came in Wed. nesday from Holly, Colorado, for short visit with Mrs. Pratt's parents, H. Conklin and wife, and other relatives and friends. Mr.

Pratt is AD oldtimer here, having been the first Mo. Pac. agent at this place and later was in business here, leaving here about eight years ago. Arrangements are being made to have a Christmas tree and entertainment in the Baptist church at this place the evening before Christmas and a program consisting of drills, recitations and music is being arranged by the Methodist and Baptist Sun day schools, under whose auspices the entertainment will be given. Enougb money has been subscribed to buy treats for all the children.

The bazaar, given at the school hal' last Saturday by the ladies of the Baptist church, was a very successful affair both socially and financially. The articles forsale, which were for the most part of home manufacture, made by the Ladies Aid society or donated individuals, were nearly all disposed of. The supper was certainly a feast and anyone who was not satisfied was surely hard to please as there was something to suit everyone and enough for everybody. The stand which dis pensed perfume, powder, soaps an numerous other toilet necessities also did a rushing business. After supper the young people proceeded to have a general good time in which the sprink fling of face and cologne figur Ved prominently, powder, ladies were well pleased with the receipta, which netted something over $50, Come to the Drug store for bargains Blacksmith Shop All kinds of wagon reparing done.
