Last Friday while In Seneca attend ing the memorial services we were wandering around promiscuously, when one of the members of the Seneca Post took us in tow and conducted us through the Armory building from the spacious auditorium to the cosy dressing-rooms, and displayed to our wondering gu.e a handsome stage full of scenery.

We don't know which to most admire, the energy and enterprise of the Pest or the result of that enterprise. Al. Schell has been very busy In his shop, of late, and unable to take his meals at regular nours, ana so, in oruer to keep from having an irate cook meet him at the door, for being late, has devised a unique telephone system, by the aid of his engine whistle. Our people need no longer wonder what makes the whistle blow so irregularly. When they hear one toot, they may know Al.

is hungry. Two toots, more hungry, while a thundering long toot means he is about tamisned. ue up neau, Al. Ask Doc Cole about those children he was called on to attend after they been rescued from the depths of a wash tub. into which thev had fallen and almost drowned.

The way. we heard this story was tliusly A young lady friend of the doctor's, seeing one of tier sister's chil-drifn playing around in the vicinity of a tub of water, conceived the Idea of fool ing the medical gentleman, so she poured water on the child and soaked the child up completely, then she grab- pea it up, rnn in where JJoc was, caus ing tnat gentleman to nave sundry visions of another case. It was a false alarm. Doctor Hunter caught a large turtle Tuesday and cut oft its head. Someone told the Dr.

that a turtle would bite after Its head was severed from its body. The Dr. said "Nix," and put tus linger is the turtle moutn, The turtle mouth snapped the linger quick u.wl nfioA arA loud. After getting his linger disen gaged trom tne turtle moutn, tne i)r. wound some rags on the wound, (which was not necessarily mortal) and hied himself to his oflice where restoratives were used.

He has recovered, now. and prefers to be a rat hunter to a tur tle nunter. Office of Kansas Mutual Life 1 Association.
