Com. Dr. Coons, the celebrated osteopath, of Hiawatha, has been coming to our city but one week. Already he has a lucrative and 8 growing practice with best of prospects. The people, of Hiawatha and Fairview have nothing but words of praise for the Doctor for the good work he has done in their midst.

D. Wickins. Mr. Smith has before served very acceptably in that capacity and his appointment will meet with general approval. Although the adyertised date is passed, many of Centralia's young people of both sexes, agreeably pared off, are yet sitting up late at night watching for that meteoric display.

-Centralia Journal. They must be a warm crowd or they couldn't stand it to sit pared off these nights. Herbert Myrick and Albert Gibbone, two of the dashing young society bloods of Capioma, went to. Topeka Saturday, and will spend a week with friends at the state capital. The boys are 'going to visit the senate chamber and pick out some desirable seats for future use, during their stay in the city.

Converse, editor of the Welleville, Kansas, Globe, came in on the G. I. Saturday and took the Rock Island to Fairview to look after interests pertaining to his future welfare. Mr. Converse WAS a schoolmate of Miss Bessie Frink and Otto Dubach, at the Ottawa University.

Frank Barnes went to Lincoln Tuesday to spend the holidays that with his Frank best has to girl. go all 'Tis the strange way to the Nebraska capital, when Sabetha has so many good looking girls who are ouly waiting for au opportunity. Col. Cyrus Bush went to Oneida Sunday to visit his sister, Mrs. Ed.

Wm. Graham has been appointed police, judge in place of D. D. Wickins, resigned, and has moved his office to the City Hall. Everybody is well pleased over Mr.

and Mrs. Wm. Ewing, the contracting parties being tneir daughter Ethel and Mr. Fred D. Snyder.

Promptly at 12 M. with Miss Ethel Bowers, niece of the groom, at the organ, the young couple accompanied by Miss Verna Snyder, and Mr. Elmer Grush, took their place in front of Rev. R. A.

Yoder, who, in a few well chosen words, pronounced them husband and wife. After congratulations the guests were invited to the dining room to partake of an elegant repast, such as can only be gotten up by those who are well versed in the culinary art. The atternoon was spent in social intercourse. The bride is a beautiful and accomplished young lady, who is well acquainted in this community. The groom is a prosperous, energetic young farmer, who has been raised in Berwick township.

About thir'y-five of the immediate relatives of the bride and groom were present and left many useful presents as tokens of their love and respect. Mr. and Mrs. Soyder will be at home four miles north of Sabetha after January 1, 1900. At the residence of the bride's parents, Mr.

The bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. W. E. Haskell, one of the most progressive farmers and stock dealers of Capioma township. She is well known as an accomplished young lady, and is highly esteemed by her neighbors, and possesses the qualities necessary to make an ideal companion and affectionate wife.

The groom is 800 of W. B. Masheter, of Still water, Oklahoma, and was raised on 'his father's farm in Capioma township. He is known by his neighbors and friends as a kind hearted, generous young man, and will make life fall of sunshine for his estimable companion. The newly married couple will make their home on the W.

B. Masheter farm in Capioma township until spring, when they will move to Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the residence of the groom's mother, Mrs. Rachel Fisher, west of Sabetha, Sunday, December 24, Mr. Normen Fike and Miss Socanna Bowers, Rev.

Miss Nellie VanPelt of Capioma, came home from Holton Saturday, to spend the holiday vacation at home. She is in the graduating class at Campbell University, where she is making a brilliant record in scholarship. In 8 letter to a friend here, E. H. Dean, who has for a number of years been working for a big sheep ranch company in Oregon, announces that he has cut loose and is going into the sheep business himself.
