Carrie Paxton in Falls City last week. The Curbs Dramatic company, who played three nights here, are playing to good houses all along the Grand Island railway. F. Freiburghouse and G. Danlicker left Sunday morning ovef the Grand Island for the Chicago market with four cars of fat cattle.

Miss Annie Quigley went to Topeka Monday evening to visit friends, after a yisit of three weeks here with her aunt, Mis. G. A. Guild. Rev.

R. Lahr. Eiler's big "Ten Nights in a Bar-room" will be in Sabetha Friday, December 12. Hear Eiler's concert orchestra, with Ten Nights in a Barroom, at the G. A.

R. hall, Dec. 12., Fay Benson took the Rock Island for Holton, on his way to Ontario, Kansas, Monday. Miss Carrie Sherwood was taken sick last week and now has a good case or the grip on hand. Mrs.

Mary Jones came up from Morrill Sunday to visit friends and look after her property. Rob Massey and family occupy part of the house of Jesse Jones in the north part of town. Miss Vina Edwards of Axtell changed cars here Saturday on her way home from Rern. Lieut. Col.

I). Smith. A couple of men from Smith Center were buying a car load of apples and receiving at the R. I. depot, Monday and Tuesday, paying 4()c per bushel for them.

Mrs. Lizzie Cummager and Miss Anna Williams, who have been visiting their sister, Mrs. J. C. Relyea, returned to their home in Toledo, Ohio, Monday.

Alvah Unkcfer helped John Wells in the grocery store last week while Carl Wells was at Eagle City so Charlie Manley drove the delivery wagon during the week. Miss Grace Collins bad to take a rest from school leaching and wrestle with the grippe several days last week, Mrs. Elta Fretz teaching in her room unt il Friday afternoon. Dr. W.

A. Haynes 'nd family have been on the sick list since last week, Mrs. Haynes being sick in bed and the doctor unable to go out and call on patients since Friday. The Rern band transferred here Saturday on their way home from the Eagle City excursion and were not very much taken with that embryo city in the sand hills. The new Congregational parsonatre will be thrown open to members and friends of the church on Thursday, Dec.

11, in the afternoon from 2:30 to and in the evening from 7 to 10. General Manager Goodenow and a party of Rock Island officials passed through here last Friday evening in a special train westward bound. They did not stop to see their property here. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder moved from near Berwick to Cross, over a year ago, atid are visiting among their old friends here. We are informed that a Kansas City trust company has bought an option on Sun Springs at the price of $10,000. If the deal goes through there will be all kinds of buildings and improvements made there.

Uncle Isaac Sweetland is very ill, in fact his life is slowly ebbing away. He is one of the landmarks of this community. He entered the army from Rrown county and has resided in this vicinity ever since his muster out. Will Klepper is here with his family as the guests of Mr. Geer.

Will has been away for thirteen years, and he expresses himself as amazed at the great improvement made in the city. He has lived near Altamont, Mo. His parents are still alive and well. They just sold a half section of land for and still retain for a home another farm of 240 acres..
