N. H. Mendenhall, Ex-co. Supt. of schools and son, Virgil, left Saturday for eastern part of the state.

Prof. Mondenaall will stop awhile In the central Kansas where he has engaged to deliver a number ofleetures. He will attend the teachers' association at Hutchinson on the 28th. It can be said to the honor of Mr. Mendenhall that ex-state Supt.

Lawhead frequently stated that he was the best educational worker in western Kansas. Prof. Mendenhall was not only a good educational worker, but also a shrewd political wire puller and an able public speaker and lecturer and as such he has few equals in this part of the state. His daughter Miss Ivy was numbered among the teachers of our county and an estimable lady Virgil is one of. our best young men and stands well the community being re-elected to a township office at our late election.

Thi3 family will be missed in Meade where they have so long resided and the Globe wishes them a-bundast success in Neosho county where they intend: to make their home. Meade Globe. Henderson of Garfield township was in town the first of last week making his assessor's returns for that township. Mr. Henderson done the work in that township in four days counting the time of one day aasessors' meetiagx and one day for returns. The time taken in ouch township was days. Williamson is now prepared to furnish the ladles of Greensburg and vicinity with spring and summer hats. Give her a call. Colors in Millinery. Violet in all its different shades, from the'palest mauve to darkest plum, is predominant in new hats. Next come cardinal red and geranium pink.

Greens are combined with other colors, but the proportion of entirely green hats is small. It is very peculiar to find two such conflicting colors as geranium pink (which comes In its most glaring shades) and Cardinal red, in one season. There is something uncertain somewhere, and one of them must surely go. It is safe to predict that it will be the geranium, for the other red is deoidedly newer, and, also, the latest combination of colors in Paris is cardinal with violet.
