A Card. WooiililNK, Dkc, 15, 1893 To County Attorney, Abilene, Kas: We, about six married ladies, of this vicinity, have agreed to let you know, and demand from you to stop Will Blume selling beer, whiskey and wine as we cannot see our husbands go to ruin by him. We will not give our names, but all the same demand from you to attend to the matter nt once, hoping thnt you will favor us by complying with the above. We ure, Yovk Ladies The above is a sample of many letters received by me, and 1 presume by all County Attorneys in the state. As the "Ladies" do not give their names, as well as many others, I can only answer the communication through the press, and by doing this enable these anonymous cor-respondents to save their postage, and to lessen the annoyance to my successor.

I vant to say to the "Ladies" and all other anonymous correspondents, that "God hates a ceward" and it is Justsuch cowardice as is displayed in these anonymcus letters, that is the cause of joints and saloons running all over the state today. If the "Ladies" believe this man is ruining their husbands, what moral cowards they must be not to make protest over thler own signatures. But what would they have me do? They say "to attend to the matter" How The law requires me to issue my atibpiena to such persons as I have reason to suspect, has knowledge of the fact of the violation of the prohibitory law. I never heard of Will Blume before; so far as I know he is a myth, end I never had intimation that the law was being violated in Woodbine. The law does not require me to become or perform the duties of a constable, sheriff, police officer or smelling quite sick for the last few days.
