C. Pierce was in Witcbita Thursday Business is quite lively in tbe court jf Cbeif Justice Eastman. There is no danger of a dead-lock in the Kansas Legislature, Frazier Bros, report an jn( reused trade since their removal. j. P.

Miller is spending a few days with his family in this city; Banker C. W. Myers, was up from Kingman, the fore part of the week. The father of Charles Ischam is visiting his son, the latter this week Attorney L. m.

Day made a business trip to WiUlnta and Topeka this week. The I. O. F. are doing considerable iniatory wok, since their organization.

Sheriff Echols is having his house on his farm, south-west of the ity, iui pr oved. Mrs. V. A. White, of Denver is visiting her sister, sirs.

M. A. Nelson, of this city. County Clerk McCord has been con-fineJ to his room, from sickness, the past few days'. Clarence Balfour, although not fully recovered from his recent illness, is again on our streets.

Attorney j. W. Davis was absent in eastern cities this week, on business conected with his legal practice. The present indications are that the great niogulls who have assembled at Topeka, are going to do but little law making. The United Brethren have commenced protracted revival meeting under the direction of the paitor, Rev.

M. M. Thomas. Commissioner S. M.Graves improved bis farm south-west of the city this week, by putting an addition to bis house.

Marshall Howison says that friends of the Times was in error when they stated he has delighted at the defeat of Joan j. Ingalls. The Alliance down in Kingman couu ty, elected Reform Commissioners and are now kicking like thunder, becanse things dont reform. Married: February 12tn, by Rev. M.

The Bk-rrBLiCAK extends congratulations. The trial of J. H. Dukehart, vs. The Greenshurg billing Company, manp-olized considerable of the time in Chief Justice Eeastman's Court, this week.

Sam Woodi is on hand at Topeke with a of his schemes. Strange how the Alliance will tale on to a aet of such political balloons as Woods, Lease and Simpson. There is an effort now being made to start an Alliance store at this place, we hope if an organization is perfected it will meet with better success than the majority of Alliance venturers in thia direction. Farmers from all over the county report the wheat prospects fine, in view of this fact it is a wise move for those who can, to secure a farm while it can be bought for a nominal figure- C. W.

Jones of Cowley county visited with the Crafts near Brenham, this week. Mr. Jones is a relative of the Craft family and expresses himself as being highly pleased with Kiowa county- All reports state the fact that the ponderous Editor of the once so called "Republican Signal" now occupies a aa second Lieuttnant. to Sam Woods, the chief high executioner of the Alliance, at ine Capital. Some members of the Calamity Party are wearily looking for a crop of gold eagles, and unless the Witena Gemote at Topeka provides the necessary golden birds their names will be Dennis in the ruture, in box car letters.

J. Escridge living south-west of this city three miles, delivered two loads of nice broom corn, one day this week, that was raised on sdd. Mr. Escridge says he thinks broom corn is one of the best crops for this county to yield good results. Mr.

M. W. Adams and family, arrived last Tuesday from Herington. Mr. Adams takes the place of U.

Fillmore as agent for the Rock Inland road at this place. We welcome Mr. Adam and his family to Greensburg and trust their future stay in our midst may be agreeable to them. The entertainment at the school building, last Friday evening, was well attended: the program was good and the music and recitations' well rendered. The essays showed much though and studjon the part of the writers.and the manner in which they were read shows that Prof.

Baker, and his assistants are doing a good work. The clouds have aeain eleared away and next week we will endpavor to have the nsnal amount of locals and editori al in the Republican, for th past few weeks we have been unable to get op Ihe material needed. However we now have Our type nearly sorted out and unless some sneak contrives to opeet the forms, we will continue in the same channel we were traveling before the cyclone struck our office and canted the tun to appear in the west and the moon to change colon.
