Saturday, if you wish to examine the instrement. Cal Terwilliger, of Goldfield, Nevada, arrived last Friday on a visit to his sister-in-law, Mrs. Mabel Terwilliger, and son Bert. He had been in the east, Boston and New York, trying to interest capital in copper mines he owns. He found that the easterns wanted the whole hog, SO he will try to finance his mines in the West.

Cal left here 12 years ago and has been prospecting most of the time since and working with pick and shovel. Finally he struck something good and we hope to see him win out. He has an ad in this paper which it will pay you to read. In the old days. when Caldwel was peopled by "dead game sports," one of the popular amusements was to arrest a tenderfoot, with all the dignity and solemnity of real law, on some trivial charge, and after dne trial to fine him something that would appease they unholy hilarity of the crowd.

A few evenings since a party of oldtimers, and some new ones, after discussing some of the funny happenings of those other days, decided that it would relieve the monotony to repeat a burlesque trial of the long ago. Casting about for a victim, a young man of kindly eye and happy disposition was selected, and a "deputy sheriff" was sent to bring him across. He was found, comfortably located upon the pizza of his inamorata, but her presence in no way deterred the "officer." The young man WAS promptly arrested on complaint for "carrying concealed weapons" and taken into court. The proceedings were secret and but little of the actual occurrences is generally known, and that filtered through many mouths, but it is said the yourg man pleaded guilty to the charge. That he was fined the requisite number of "Jackson cocktails," or to spend ten days the pleasure seekers at "Dreary." It is surmised that be knew where to get the "Jacksons," as he is still in town.

And he didn't get wise to the joke until it came to the sentence. and see the new line of EAR Go to Grabbert's LETS, RINGS, FOBS, STICK BACK PINS, BRACE- COMBS, AND BELT BUCKLES.
