F. Lasley left for Cherokee county Tuesday on account of the serious illness of his father. Laura Twilley, after a pleasant visit with her many friends in Big Creek expects to return to her home tol a the last of the week. Flags were flying all over town, while Fourth street was a general flutter of flags and bunting. The procession formed on the West side at 10 a. m. and mrched east through town, when they disbanded and took conveyances to the cemetery, where they re-formed and decorated the graves. The tanks of the grand army were rather open.

We missed several faces that Lave been seen heretofore on such occasions. The fire company in their bright new uniforms looked quite swell. The memorial address in the M. E. church in the afternoon was well attended and well received by the audience.

All report a pleasant lime and depar ted wishing Alice many happy birth days in ttie future. The Hon. Tom McNeal delivered his address, "How to Live an Hundred Years," last Thursday night in the M.

E. church to an appreciative audience. McNeal Is a good one; it is surprising how funny he can make a thing seem. His address was brim-full of good sound thoughts, embellished with glittering gems of rhetoric and OY'erflowing with genuine wit. No one wiio heard that lecture but was benefitted by it.

A the lecturer urged, a good hearty laugh is conducive to longevity; and from the number (f genuine, old-fashioned, sidesplitting laughs his audience engaged in Sartng the course of the lecture, we think their lives will be materially lengthened.
