Volney Slyvester Carey, son of Mr. Isaac and Mrs. Osee Carey, was born in Merritstown, Ohio, January 2Sth, 1844, and died at his hne corner of Seventh and Lincoln streets, Tuesday, October 26th, In his young er life he was a school teacher, later he became a carpenter and followed this trade until 6 years ago.

Through out his sickness which has lasted for three years, he has been an intense sufferer, but made a brave fight for his life. Death came at last as a relief from pain and his spirit has tak en its flight to be with God. He joined the Christain church when he was eighteen years old, and for many years was a deacon in th. Salina Christian church. The last time he was able to get out to cinirch was four years ago.

He was very fond of the Bible and had it through three time, also fond of rais ic and loved everything that beautiful. He had his house set in order long before the Master called him. The greeting had been exchanged with his wife and dearest children, all things attended to, noth ing seemed to escape his attention. How thoughtful he was for his wife and his family, never wanting them to be put to extra trouble for him. His life was full of deeds of kindness for those about him, and whether the world knows about it or nor.

they have not escaped the eyes of his Heavenly Father, from whom he will receive his reward. "He has fought a good fight, He has kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for hitr. A crown of righteousness." He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife six daughters, two sons and two sisters, one brother of Ohio and a host of friends. 1 I rar.Ti THATS NOV TH Oft 5Ai IPSA .1 JL5T ABOUT I 6oss Not' SACK M9 4fl Tm iA ---'km- I IMIII iMI Read the STUDEBAKER ad in the Saturday Evening Post of th is week about power, it's interesting. 119 i Theoung Lady AcrossThe Way "We observed to the young lady across the way that most of our political troubles are caused by the indifference of so-called good citizens and she said that was right and they certainly had no reason to complain when they didn't even take the trouble to go to the polls and stuff the ballot-boxes.
