According to my grandfather,(nephew) the families of Joseph (father of Hercules) and Francois-Xavier (father of Joseph of Alaska fame) were very friendly, close and visited each other. Hercules went by dob Oct 1836, which could not have happened as Edmond was born in December 1836 and has a baptismal record. Researchers believe he was born in 1839 as baptism record has not been found. Andre and Damase, bros to Hercules in newspapers are sons of Joseph, and my ggf is with him on 1870 census.
